#137 Makino Storage

On Thursday, a few of us from the office went to the warehouse where our Makinos are being stored. Makino is the name of a Japanese machine tool company that makes large machining centers used, among other things, in the manufacture of Caterpillar Motor Graders. These are multimillion dollar pieces of equipment that do multi-axis machining to drill holes and cut features in large steel assemblies. The Makinos were one of the very capital equipment purchases made for our new factory. They arrived several weeks ago and are being stored nearby along with some other large items in a storage warehouse. I was quite surprised to see the number of boxes - over 100 for our three machining centers.

It is exciting to have these machines in our possession as we have talked for nearly a year now about the requirements, tooling, and delivery schedule for these three machines. Along with the building construction it is a very tangible sign that we are getting closer and closer to production. The bald guy standing with the outdoor crates is my friend and fabrication manager, Bill, whose job it will be to install and put these assets into production.
