#308 Dulwich Ball

Being part of this expat community in Suzhou mean many social activities and events. Every year, the parent association at the kids' schools, called "Friends of Dulwich" or FOD hosts the Dulwich Ball which is a formal affair with a theme. Kathleen volunteers as one of the FOD officers, so she was involved in the planning of this year's ball.

The theme this year was 1920's Shanghai. Some people, like me, just wore a tuxedo or suit, but many others got into the costumes like Darren and Sonja above in the gangster suit and red flapper dress. Kathleen had her dress made at one of the Suzhou custom tailors.

The party was held at the new boat shaped Crown Plaza Hotel on Jinji Lake - a great location for a big party. There was an excellent band led by the husband of one of the Dulwich teachers. Above you can see Kathleen and a group of friends doing some kind of line dance (1920's electric slide ??). Definitely a great night.
